OHSAA Survey on Ejection Rule
The Ohio High School Athletic Association is seeking input from basketball coaches regarding the ejection rule in basketball. A survey will be sent out to the OHSBCA membership on Wednesday, March 4 seeking input from our members. An email with a link to the survey will sent to all registered members.

The questions on the survey will be:
1. Is there anything within the sport of basketball that is currently an ejection that should not be? Players or coaches?
2. Is there anything that you believe should be changed to be an ejection that is not currently? Players or coaches?
3. Should the ejection merit an appeal process?
4. Should a scale of consequences be in place for degrees of ejection?
5. Additional comments on the current ejection process and 2 game suspension from OHSAA for players and coaches.

Ohio North-South Game
The OHSBCA featured event is the Ohio North-South All-Star Game. The Boys have been playing this event since 1958 and the Girls since 1981. The top players and coaches in the state participate in this annual event. Each team is comprised of ten players. The player selection is done by the following procedure. The State is divided into 16 districts, eight southern and eight northern. One player and alternate are selected from each district. Voting is done in each district by tallying number of State Membership votes. The player must be nominated by a coach who is a member of the OHSBCA. The alternate player will participate if the original player cannot participate. Two other players that complete the ten man roster are selected by (1) “At Large From the State,” (2) All Star Committee Selection, or (3) Game Site Selection. District Directors from the North will select the north coaches and District Directors from the South will select the south coaches. Nominees can come from all districts. Coaches must be an OHSBCA Member and coached in the District Finals in the previous season.

The rules for the Ohio North-South All-Star Games are: (1) Two 20-minute halves and a shot clock, (2) 10-minute halftime, (3) Players can foul out (5 fouls), (4) Coaches sub every 5 minutes in the first half, (5) Everyone plays in second half, (6) Coach to win, (7) Half Court Defense is all man-to-man, (8) Full court defense is anything you want to do. The games will be played on Friday, April 24, 2020, with the D1 & D2 game starting at 6:30 pm followed by the D3 & D4 game at 8:15 pm. The Boys games will compete at Olentangy Liberty High School and the Girls will be at Denison University.

The OHSBC Showcase will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2020 at Capital University.

Girls Showcase
After lengthy discussions with showcase personnel and receiving feedback from girls district directors and the executive board, the Girls Showcase will be suspended for this year, 2020. We will not be taking nominations for the girls showcase this year. We will revisit the showcase next year with hopes that the NCAA will rearrange their recruiting calendar to better support scholastic events as they did with the boys calendar. We are always open to suggestions and ideas on how we can reinvent the Girls Showcase to make it a positive event in the future.
