2014 – Jim Reynolds

The Ohio High School Basketball Coaches Association is proud to announce that Jim Reynolds of Madeira High School is the recipient of the 2014 Paul Walker Award. The Paul Walker Award is presented annually by the OHSBCA to an active coaching member of the association who has made significant contributions to high school basketball. The award is named in honor of the late Paul Walker, the longtime coach of Middletown High School. At the time of his retirement, he had the most wins as a boys basketball coach in Ohio High School Basketball history.

Jim is a 1973 graduate of Forest Park High School in Cincinnati, Ohio where he lettered in basketball and baseball. He received his undergraduate degree from Miami (Ohio) University and masters degree from Xavier University. Coach Reynolds has been the head boys varsity basketball coach at Madeira for 23 seasons. In addition, Jim was the boys varsity basketball coach at Wyoming High School for 4 seasons and served as an assistant at Mt. Healthy High School for 8 seasons.

During this time, Jim’s varsity teams have compiled an overall record of 413-204. His teams have won 10 Cincinnati Hills League Championships, 10 Sectional Championships, 6 District Championships and 1 Regional Championship. Madeira Varsity Basketball is currently in a stretch of 20 consecutive winning seasons. Coach Reynolds is Madeira’s all-time career leader in wins with 353.

Coach Reynolds has been selected as the Cincinnati Hills League Coach of the Year 7 times, District 16 Coach of the Year 9 times and the OHSBCA State Coach of the Year in 1999. Jim is also a recipient of Sportsmanship, Ethics and Integrity Award, a North/South All Star Game Coach and received the Bob Arnzen Longevity Award. He has served District 16 for over twenty years holding the District 16 director position, secretary/treasurer position and currently is the communications director.

Jim has been married to Linda for 31 years and they are the proud parents of a son and a daughter. Linda works as a private nanny and has been instrumental in all Jim’s success. Ryan is a graduate of Xavier University and is currently the Director of Men’s Basketball Operations at the University of Arizona. Erica is a graduate of the University of South Carolina and the University of Cincinnati Physical Therapy School. She currently works as a physical therapist for Nova Care in the Northern Kentucky area.
